In Oregon, casinos outside American Indian reservations are illegal. But Oregon’s lottery operates video poker machines throughout the state, and they’re featured prominently in a chain of popular delicatessens, where the setting might be brighter and less smoky than the stereotypical casino, but the stakes can be just as high.
